A little digi project...

Wanna see some really cool projects I made for birthday gifts? Of course you do.

this one was made for my Auntie Doris

and this one was for my Uncle Dave

they were both turning 60 this week so my cousin wanted to do something special for them so she enlisted my help. The concept was simple...60 words from friends in honor of turning 60. We just had to figure out how to create it. So while she worked on getting a list of words from all my aunt and uncle's friends and family I worked on figuring out how to create it. Didn't take long to figure out the best and fastest way to do this project would be on the computer so I used my publishing program to do the whole thing. I simply created a 11 x 14 blank file and made multiple text boxes and typed in all the submitted words mixing up the fonts and colors as I went along. After they were all typed I simply had to move the text boxes around until I liked the arrangement. Once it was done my cousin hadit professionally printed and then framed them in simple glass frames. Voila..Done. Pretty simple and super cheap and they were a huge hit...both my aunt and uncle loved reading all the loving and thoughtful and often funny comments from all their friends and family. Such a great gift...I predict I will be making more of these in the future.

Chinese Whispers reveal

so over on ClubCK I signed up for another round of Chinese Whispers and our group just finished so I can finally share the layout I made for it with you. I made this almost a month ago but I was at the very beginning of the group so I had to wait patiently while all the others in our group worked finished theirs before I could post...I totally hate being 1st...the waiting was brutal.

so here's my take on the sketch I got...the sketch was a 2 pager but of course I don't do 2 pagers so it quickly got converted to a single page. I was really really happy with how this layout turned out mostly because I really liked the colors. I rarely use these kind of colors so it was fun to break out of the same old same old and try some new color schemes...I think the orange, yellow, aqua and pink work perfect for this beach layout and the tan and black do a good job of keeping the colors from looking to cheezy and pastel-y KWIM? Well I know what I mean :).  Besides the colors my fave thing on this layout has to be the cool swirls...they have that wave vibe without actually being waves which I love cause I hate doing super theme-y layouts.

oh and if your not familiar with Chinese Whispers I'll give you a quick run down on how it works...it's basically like the game of telephone kids play only instead of passing stories you pass layouts...the first person does a sketch...she sends the sketch to person #2...person #2 does a layout based on the sketch and sends a pic of their layout to person #3 who does a layout based on what #2 sent her and it goes on and on like this. It's really pretty cool to see the evolution from the sketch to the last layout. If you've never played along before you should give it a try next go around...it's really fun.

You can see all the fab layouts our group did and the cool sketch that we used by checking out this thread on ClubCK.

3 more

So I have 3 more layouts to show you from my 3 day crop this weekend...these didn't really need much in the way of journaling so they got done first.

this LO was fun to do cause the pictures were so fun...nice to have pics of me and the hubster for a change..I used some of my fave paper from the Harvest Market collection by Lilybee Design to create the frame. Just love that paper. I ran into trouble trying to work with the dang flowers... i rarely use them so getting the arrangement right was giving me fits...finally settled on good enough.

This LO was a breeze to do because I already had the fun borders done...they were leftover from an older layout...they were just pieces of coordinating scraps glued to a paper strip and used as one piece. I added a bit of fake stitching to amp up the borders and then added some embellie clusters and voila..done.

This was the very last layout I got done at the crop...just love the picture arrangement on this LO....and those critters are so cute! Kept the embellies and papers to a minimum...but I love what I did use...the red check just screams country to me and that lace paper border from K&Co. is just perfect for this LO.

If I can get cracking on the journaling on the rest of my layouts I will have more to show ya tomorrow.
